Mark Chapman – Our New Honorary President

A photo of Mark Chapman with the Pathfinders Lifetime Achievement Award

Our co-founder Mark Chapman has retired from his role of Chair of the Board of Trustees for Pathfinders Neuromuscular Alliance, and named our first Honorary President in recognition of his service to the charity.

Having been involved in Pathfinders since he co-founded it alongside CEO Jon Rey-Hastie in 2014, at the Trustee Board meeting on 21/11/2020, Mark Chapman stepped down as Chair of the Trustee Board. In recognition of his work, he received the inaugural Pathfinders Lifetime Achievement Award for services to the Duchenne community, and was named the first Honorary President of Pathfinders Neuromuscular Alliance.

When Mark and Jon decided to start a user led charity for those with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, they wanted to create something that could support young adults with the condition, by sharing advice and connecting people with Duchenne together to share their experiences. This was only the beginning of an organisation that would end up changing so many peoples lives. Mark has always played a huge part in Pathfinders, and that is why we hold his contribution so dearly. It is clear that without Mark there would be no Pathfinders.

While Mark will be retiring, hoping to spend time on other projects, he will remain central to the work of Pathfinders. So don’t worry, he’ll still be around!
