Congratulations to Louise who receives our March monthly honours!

We are delighted to announce that the Pathfinders Monthly Honours award goes to Louise Watch.

The award for this month recognises Louise’s crafting and fundraising achievements. She has been paper crafting for 15 years and soon began creating beautiful cards for friends and family. Her love of card-making soon overtook her need to make cards to send and this led her to sell them for MD related charities – one of them being Pathfinders! You can see from looking at her online store how much time and care goes into each piece. Crafting with a difference – Oh How Lovely Gifts

Louise has LGMD2 and depends on others to do many things. She explains “With craft work you can design and create and see something at the end which you’ve had a lot of control over and that’s such a big thing.”

She makes cards and gift pouches for all occasions and will create something bespoke if asked. She has little movement yet has shown what is still possible. It is a hobby and now an enterprise that ticks a lot of boxes for her.

Louise tells us: “I think for a long time art was seen as simply therapy for severely disabled people … but whilst it might have physical and mental health benefits people are now being seen as skilled artists and not patients.”
