We are excited to share some fantastic news with our Pathfinders community — Jon Hastie has been appointed as the permanent CEO of Pathfinders Neuromuscular Alliance.

Many of you will know Jon not only as a co-founder of Pathfinders but also as a long-standing advocate for the neuromuscular community. He previously served as CEO from 2016 to 2022 and returned as Interim in September 2024. Now, we’re delighted to have him back at the helm in a permanent capacity.
Jon brings a wealth of experience, including a background in Policy, Communications, and User Engagement, as well as a PhD in Government. He also lives with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, bringing crucial lived experience to his leadership. His career has spanned both corporate organisations and user-led charities, giving him a unique perspective that’s deeply aligned with our values.
In his role as CEO, Jon will be responsible for delivering the strategy in close partnership with the board as well as overseeing the charity’s daily operations. His first task will be to develop a new strategic plan, building on what has already been achieved, shaped by feedback on the views of our community in order to help expand our support and reach — something we’re really looking forward to sharing with you soon.

“I’m thrilled to return to Pathfinders in a permanent role and to be able to get stuck in straightaway to planning the charity’s future. Pathfinders has always had a special place in my heart and I believe there is huge untapped potential to become an indispensable resource for the neuromuscular community. There’s plenty of work to do and we could use all the support we can get, so please reach out if you want to get involved!”
Please join us in giving Jon a very warm welcome back. We’re excited about what’s ahead!
With very best wishes to all our members and supporters
